Who am I?

LaSaia Wade is a powerhouse in the movement for trans rights and Black liberation, paving the way for Black, Afro-Puerto Rican, Indigenous, trans, and gender-nonconforming individuals. As the founder of Brave Space Alliance and the Tennessee Trans Journey Project (TNTJ), her impact spans both local and national levels, advancing equity and justice for marginalized communities.

Her leadership in organizing the Trans Liberation Protest in Chicago—marking the largest march for trans rights in the Midwest—cements her role as a transformative figure in trans liberation efforts. LaSaia's ability to mobilize the community, bringing intersectionality and justice to the forefront, speaks volumes about her influence. Her recognition during Women’s History Month and the Chicago LGBTQA Black History Recognitions Ceremony highlights her groundbreaking achievements as the first trans woman honored for her advocacy work in Illinois history.

In addition to her activism, LaSaia's background includes a Master's in Business Administration, which informs her strategic approach to grant writing, operations, and development—strengthening the sustainability of the organizations she leads and are apart of.
